Special Needs Caregiver – Hudson, Florida

Position: Male or Female Caregiver for an Individual with Special Needs
Location: Hudson, FL
Schedule: Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Hours: 36 hours per week
Transportation: Reliable personal vehicle required
Mileage Reimbursement: Available for approved patient-related transportation.

Job Description

Paramount Home Health Care is seeking a dependable, mature, patient, and experienced male or female caregiver to support a male individual with special needs in Hudson, Florida.

The patient is relatively independent but requires supervision, companionship, and a caregiver who is firm, confident, consistent, and experienced in managing challenging behaviors.

The patient is not physically aggressive and does not have a history of hitting others. However, he may be resistant to instructions, particularly from female caregivers. Therefore, we are looking for a male or female caregiver who can confidently establish boundaries, provide clear directions, and effectively redirect behaviors while maintaining a calm, respectful, and professional approach.

The ideal candidate must be able to maintain appropriate boundaries, gain the patient's cooperation, and safely manage behavioral challenges without becoming intimidated or overwhelmed.

Responsibilities

Provide supervision, companionship, and support to a male individual with special needs.
Establish clear boundaries and consistently reinforce appropriate behaviors.
Use firm but respectful communication to encourage cooperation and compliance with daily routines.
Recognize behavioral triggers and apply appropriate redirection and de-escalation techniques.
Accompany the patient into the community for outings, recreational activities, and approved appointments.
Encourage independence while ensuring the patient's safety.
Remain calm, patient, and professional when the patient becomes uncooperative or refuses instructions.
Follow the patient's individualized care plan and behavioral support strategies.
Communicate behavioral concerns and relevant updates to agency management.

Requirements

Male or female applicants are welcome.
Previous experience working with individuals with special needs or behavioral challenges is strongly preferred.
Must be mature, confident, dependable, patient, and responsible.
Must be comfortable working with a male patient who may resist instructions or challenge boundaries.
Must demonstrate the ability to be firm and assertive without using intimidation, threats, or physical force.
Experience with behavioral management, crisis prevention, and de-escalation techniques is highly desirable.
Must have a reliable personal vehicle.
Must possess a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
Must be comfortable transporting or accompanying the patient into the community.
Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional maturity are essential.
Must be available to work Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Mileage Reimbursement: Available for approved patient-related transportation and community activities, subject to agency policies.
