About the Role

As a caregiver with Senior Helpers of Sun City West–Surprise, you’ll be a trusted presence in your clients’ daily lives. Through companionship, personal care, and recovery support, you’ll help seniors stay safe, comfortable, and independent at home while giving their families peace of mind.

This is not a live-in position. All overnight shifts are awake shifts. Caregivers must remain awake, alert, and available to assist throughout the entire shift.

Service Area

Our office is based in Sun City West, Arizona. We serve clients throughout Sun City West, Surprise, and the surrounding areas. Caregivers must be willing to travel to client homes within our service area.

What We Offer

• Paid sick time: Accrues at one hour for every 30 hours worked, with use available after 90 days of employment.

• Mileage reimbursement: Paid at the standard IRS rate for approved business driving, including travel between client locations.

• Holiday premium pay: Earn 1.5 times your regular rate for hours worked on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve—and your birthday.

• Flexible scheduling: Daytime, evening, and awake overnight shifts available. We work with your availability to find suitable assignments.

• Paid caregiver training: Build your skills through Senior Helpers training, including specialized programs for Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, and recovery care.

• One-on-one client matching: We thoughtfully match caregivers

• Office support: Our office team is a phone call away to answer questions and help address concerns during assignments.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities vary by client and care plan and may include:

• Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support

• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting

• Support walking, mobility, transfers, and getting into and out of bed

• Prepare meals and assist with meal planning

• Complete light housekeeping, laundry, and linen changes

• Assist with errands, shopping, and transportation using the client’s vehicle or your own, as authorized

• Provide medication reminders

• Support clients living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, or other care needs

• Provide non-medical support following surgery or during recovery

• Remain awake and attentive throughout overnight assignments

• Document care activities daily as directed

• Promptly report significant changes in a client’s condition or safety concerns to the office

What We’re Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Previous caregiving experience, either professionally or through caring for a family member

• Compassion for seniors and a commitment to treating every client with dignity, patience, and respect

• Dependability, punctuality, and professionalism

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English sufficiently to follow care plans, document care, and communicate about client needs

• Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and current auto insurance

• Reliable personal vehicle available for authorized use during assignments

• Successful completion of a criminal background check and preemployment drug screening

• Willingness to work assigned shifts reliably and adapt to changing client needs

• At least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States

Preferred qualifications and training:

• Experience supporting individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, or memory care needs

• Current CPR/First Aid certification; if not already held, certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire

• Comfort assisting with personal care, including bathing, grooming, and toileting

We provide training to help the right caregivers build their skills and confidence.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on role. Depending on the assignment, essential duties may require the ability to:

• Safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, such as placing a wheelchair or walker into a vehicle

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and push or pull during a shift

• Safely assist clients with mobility, transfers, and daily activities

• Climb stairs as needed

• Remain awake and alert throughout overnight shifts

• Visually monitor client safety, with or without corrective lenses
